Accolades for Arts and Mental Health Network 24 February 2023 The Western Australia Arts & Mental Health Network (AMHN) has been recognised with a Highly Commended Award by the Mental Health Service Awards of Australia and New Zealand 2022. The commendation was for the category Psychosocial and/or Support Category and was awarded for the art and music community events organised by AMHN during Mental Health Week. Creative Expression Centre for Art Therapy Clinical Services Manager Patricia Fonceca said a lot of effort goes into organising the community events. "The Network is a fantastic example of how government and community organisations work together towards a positive outcome," Ms Fonceca said. WA Pharmacist wins prestigious award for efforts in WA’s COVID-19 response 25 January 2023 King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) Deputy Pharmacist Nabeelah Mukadam was recently recognised for her contribution to the WA COVID-19 response. Ms Mukadam won the WA Pharmacists Achievement Award 2022, which celebrates a hospital pharmacist who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession. As the COVID-19 Vaccination Pharmacy Lead in WA, Ms Mukadam played an important role in the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine equitably across the most expansive health service area in the world. Graylands volunteer reflects on 45-years supporting patients 24 January 2023 At 97-years-old, Floreat resident Edna Prosser has been volunteering at Graylands Hospital for more than 45 years and hopes to continue for as long as she can. Mrs Prosser recently announced her retirement as the President of Graylands Hospital Volunteer Services after 35 years, but she will stay on as a committee member. The dedicated nonagenarian works in the op-shop twice a week and has enjoyed roles helping in the kiosk and cake stalls at fundraisers. “Originally I started volunteering when my daughter finished St Mary’s school in the mid-1950s,” Mrs Prosser said. “We used to sew and repair clothes and make cushions for patients.” Mrs Prosser said the best thing about volunteering was meeting people. “It is also good to have something you are committed to do,” she said. REDCap award for NMHS Senior Scientist 14 December 2022 Clinical Research Centre (CRC) Acting Manager, Dr Milan Dragovic, has been recognised as the most helpful REDCap User for 2022 at the WA Health REDCap Symposium of 2022. Dr Dragovic, a Senior Scientist, has been actively involved in implementing the REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) System since 2016. The award highlights the level of knowledge Milan has around the program, and how pivotal he has been in training and promoting the use of the REDCap System across WA. "The REDCap service has been adopted widely across our service," Milan said. "I feel grateful that my passion and relentless advocating of this wonderful service has been recognised." NMHS Junior Medical Officer Manifesto 14 December 2022 The NMHS is wholeheartedly committed to leading the way as the employer of choice and ensuring that all Junior Medical Officers (JMO) are valued as integral members of the NMHS family. The NMHS JMO Manifesto has been developed in collaboration with our Junior Doctors and Doctors in training, Charlies RMO Society, Senior Clinicians and the Australian Medical Association (AMA). The commitments are outlined as follows: 1. Part time roles and flexible working arrangements There will be 35 new part-time opportunities created across NMHS, encompassing job-share and ward-based arrangements.
