Mental Health
NMHS Mental Health, Public Health and Dental Services (MHPHDS) Mental Health is the State’s largest mental health service providing youth, adult, older adult, forensic and statewide mental health services in a variety of settings, including inpatient services, community mental health centres, day therapy, outreach and in people's homes. The service includes Graylands Hospital, the state’s only standalone public psychiatric teaching hospital that provides acute care, rehabilitation, treatment and rehabilitation for adults.
Mental health facilities include:
- Graylands Hospital - 109 beds
- Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Mental Health Service - 36 beds
- Selby Lodge and Osborne Lodge - 56 beds
- State Forensic Mental Health Service - Frankland Centre and Dryandra Ward - 45 beds
- Hospital in the Home (HITH) - 48 virtual beds
In Australia, overseas visitors, overseas students and patients who are not eligible for Medicare under their current VISA arrangements are required to pay for the cost of their health care. Please contact your referred hospital Overseas Liaison Officer.

Mental Health Emergency Response Line (MHERL)
This 24-hour, 7 day a week triage service has professionals who can provide advice about mental health problems and, if needed, assist with access to mental health care.

For help with mental health issues
General Practitioners (GPs) can make referrals to specialist mental health services when needed.
There is also a wide network of non-government organisations that provide many important mental health services with assistance from the State Government.
