Research ethics and governance at NMHS
The review, approval and monitoring of human research at NMHS is governed by WA Health's Research Governance Framework (external site) in conjunction with National guidelines and International conventions. Research ethics and governance applications are submitted and processed via the Research Governance Service (RGS) (external site) platform.
Each research area administers and monitors approved research ethics and governance applications via its Research Ethics and Governance Office (REGO). North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) has REGO Offices at:
- Sir Charles Gairdner and Osborne Park Health Care Group (external site)
- King Edward Memorial Hospital (external site)
- MHPHDS Mental Health Clinical Research Centre
- MHPHDS Mental Health Research Ethics and Governance Office (REGO)
NMHS research projects are governed by an internal review process that is bound by WA Health Policy. Our Ethics Committees are composed and defined by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), with independent bodies reporting to NMHS and NMHS hospital/service executives.
Visit the Sir Charles Gairdner and Osborne Park Health Care Group (SCGOPHCG) Department of Research (external site) for more information.
