Patients at Osborne Park Hospital are enjoying a new range of morning tea options designed to provide greater variety, flavour and enjoyment during their stay.

The enhanced menu is the result of a collaborative project involving catering, dietetics, speech pathology, allied health and ward teams, who worked together to ensure the new offerings are both enjoyable and appropriate for a wide range of patient needs.

The project focused on improving the patient experience by introducing more choice while maintaining high standards of nutrition, food safety and accessibility.

Osborne Park Hospital Catering Coordinator Farbod Salamat said the initiative highlighted the value of multidisciplinary collaboration in delivering patient-centred care.

"Patients can spend weeks or even months in hospital, so providing variety and enjoyment in their meals can make a meaningful difference to their overall experience," he said.

"Our teams worked closely together to develop options that are not only appealing and nutritious, but also suitable for patients with different dietary and texture requirements."

The new menu items underwent extensive planning, testing and review before being introduced, ensuring they met nutritional standards while supporting patient wellbeing and satisfaction.

Since their introduction, the new morning tea options have received positive feedback from patients, with fruit bars and apple cinnamon muffins proving particularly popular.

While morning tea snacks make up only a small part of a patient's overall dietary intake, the initiative demonstrates how small improvements can contribute to a more positive hospital stay.

The project reflects Osborne Park Hospital's ongoing commitment to enhancing patient care and experience through innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
