NMHS Mental Health has community clinics situated at Butler, Wanneroo, Mirrabooka, Osborne Park and Subiaco.

The clinics are staffed by multidisciplinary teams including Medical staff, Psychologists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Welfare Officers, Aboriginal Mental Health Workers and Peer Support Workers, and supported by General Practice Liaison Officers and Community Development Officers. Services are coordinated by Community Treatment Teams, Assessment and Treatment Teams, Intensive Clinical Outreach Teams, NMHS MH Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Teams, Obstetric Liaison Consultation Service and Post-natal Teams.

Butler Community Mental Health Service

Services Offered

  • Emergency and non-urgent psychiatric services to adults aged 18 to 65 years who have a mental illness.
  • Mental health consultation, urgent and non-urgent assessments.
  • Multidisciplinary community rehabilitation services for the individual’s mental illness

Eligibility criteria

  • Consumers aged 18 to 65 living in the North Metropolitan catchment area requiring mental health treatment and support.
  • Referrals can be self-referral or referred by GP or other practitioner or service provider (with the consent of the consumer)

Wanneroo Community Mental Health Service

Services Offered

  • Emergency and non-urgent psychiatric services to adults aged 18 to 65 years who have a mental illness.
  • Mental health consultation, urgent and non-urgent assessments.
  • Multidisciplinary community rehabilitation services for the individual’s mental illness
  • Active Recovery Team (ART) operates from Wanneroo. The ART model provides coordinated, responsive, and tailored wrap around mental health and psychosocial treatment and support over a 90-day period, upon entry to our Mental Health Service. The ART service consists of Wanneroo and Stirling Community Mental Health Services in partnership with Women’s Health and Family Services (WHFS) to provide integrated care in the community.

Mirrabooka Community Mental Health Service

Services Offered

  • Emergency and non-urgent psychiatric services to adults aged 18 to 65 years who have a mental illness.
  • Mental health consultation, urgent and non-urgent assessments.
  • Multidisciplinary community rehabilitation services for the individual’s mental illness
  • The Co-Response an afterhours team that works with the police to do mental health crisis/ early intervention and diversion.

Osborne Community Mental Health Service

Services Offered

  • Emergency and non-urgent psychiatric services to adults aged 18 to 65 years who have a mental illness.
  • Mental health consultation, urgent and non-urgent assessments.
  • Multidisciplinary community rehabilitation services for the individual’s mental illness
  • An Intensive Community Outreach Team (ICOT) is also based at Osborne Clinic. This team works with people with persistent and enduring mental illness and comorbidity who have often be excluded from mainstream mental health services because of aggression or antisocial behaviours.
  • A perinatal psychiatry service also operates out of Osborne Clinic working closely in Consultation Liaison role with Osborne Park Hospital antenatal service. It provides a service to women with serious mental illness during the gestation period.
  • The NMHS Dialectical and Behavioural Therapy Service runs a group therapy service largely for people with borderline and emotional unstable personality disorder.

Subiaco Community Mental Health Service

Services Offered

  • Emergency and non-urgent psychiatric services to adults aged 18 to 65 years who have a mental illness.
  • Mental health consultation, urgent and non-urgent assessments.
  • Multidisciplinary community rehabilitation services for the individual’s mental illness
  • There are a number of Psychiatric Hostels within the Lower West catchment area which the service provides in-reach support and ongoing treatment as required.
  • Lower West also has the support of a GP Liaison Officer to assist consumers, clinicians and GPs in the local area to provide comprehensive care for mental health consumers and a Community Development Officer assists in providing linkages with local non-government organisations (NGOs) that further assists consumers in accessing and engaging with community services.
