Record donation by NMHS staff provides gift of respect and dignity
Staff at North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) generously donated essential personal items to Dandelions WA to help spread Christmas cheer, enabling more than 760 packs to be provided to those in need.
The packs are predominantly provided to those who have experienced homelessness and domestic violence as well as those doing it tough this Christmas.
Dandelions WA is a volunteer-led organisation which distributes kindness packs to promote dignity, health, acceptance and opportunities.
Dandelions WA President and Co-founder Vicky Young said she was overwhelmed by the massive amount of goods by provided by NMHS, and thanked staff for spreading so much Christmas Cheer.
“Dandelions WA has never received such an amazing donation of items from one organisation” Vicky said.
“NMHS staff have been so very generous and you can see thought went into every item donated.
“The items are high quality, and for somebody who is struggling the simple gift of a brand item of matching shampoo and conditioner is such a treat.
“The support agencies requesting assistance for families have been very touched by the quality and volume of the kits they’re able to provide this year.
This is the first time that Dandelions WA has been included in the staff-led annual NMHS Spread the Cheer charity appeal.
“Due to the volume of toiletries and essentials provided, we have been able to give families a gift of a "Families Toiletry Kit" when they collected the Christmas Packs,” Vicky said.
“These kits enable them all to feel special and smell special on Christmas Day. A simple but very important gift of dignity and respect."
