NMHS Family and Domestic Violence Framework launched
We are very pleased to have launched the inaugural North Metropolitan Health Service Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) Framework.
One of five West Australian women has reported experiencing partner violence since the age of 15 and nationally one in four Australian women have experienced violence by an intimate partner. Together across NMHS this framework will provide strategic direction and leadership for all our NMHS services and guide us to improve the safety of families experiencing FDV.
A big thank you to Hon. Simone McGurk, MLA, Minister for Child Protection; Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence; Community Services for attending the official launch, and to Alison Gibson for your insight into families living with FDV and work being done in this space.
The Framework was co-designed and jointly developed by Women’s Health Strategy and Programs (WHSP), in partnership with all North Metropolitan Health Service sites and services including Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital, Osborne Park Hospital, Graylands Hospital, Mental Health, Public Health and Dental Services, Women and Newborn Health Services and Joondalup Health Campus (Ramsay Health).
It builds on the established clinical processes within NMHS to identify and support FDV victims to optimise their safety and wellbeing and is dedicated to the memory of Jessica Bairnsfather-Scott, a much loved granddaughter, daughter, sister, aunty, cousin, friend and NMHS/MHPHDS colleague.
