Thank you for your ultra-generous donation!
Michael and Emmalene Head visited on the 22 April 2021 to formally announce their donation of $5,000 to the State Head Injury Unit (SHIU).
Michael is a former client of the SHIU from 2009 following a haemorrhagic stroke due to ruptured aneurysm at the age of 37. Part of his rehabilitation involved Physiotherapy which lead to running to improve his balance and neurophysical recovery (he was never a runner prior).
Michael has since gone on to become an ultra-marathon runner and last year completed the Lighthorse Ultra Marathon which involved running as far as you can in a 24 hour period. Michael ran 180km and Emmalene’s employer sponsoring him per kilometre.
The SHIU were very fortunate to receive 50 per cent of the funds raised (the other 50 per cent going to cancer research).
Michael attributes his positive recovery and change of lifestyle to his time on our program and the support provided both to himself and his family. SHIU will be brainstorming how best to use the funds over the coming months.
