About us

DonateLife Western Australia (WA) works with the Australian Organ and Tissue Authority (OTA), to deliver the national program to save lives, restore health and improve quality of life of Australians, through organ and tissue donation for transplantation.

In partnership with OTA, DonateLife WA drives community awareness about organ and tissue donation, encouraging all Australians to make a decision to support donation and make it known through family discussion and registration on the national Australian Organ Donor Register (AODR).

DonateLife WA works within all public and private health services to provide the community access to organ and tissue donation as part of end-of-life care, including liaison with police and coronial services to facilitate opportunity for donation.

Donation specialist staff are available 24 hours, 7 days per week to manage referrals for organ and tissue donation, to provide people information and support as part of organ and tissue donation conversations. The on-call team works with donation and transplantation clinicians, hospital staff, eye, and tissue bank staff to facilitate retrieval and transplantation.

Hospital-based DonateLife WA staff work collaboratively with colleagues to implement clinical best practice for organ and tissue donation, to provide health professionals education about donation processes and raise community awareness of donation.

As part of the National DonateLife Family Support Service, DonateLife WA also provides families of organ and tissue donors support before, during and after donation.
